Why Play Pickleball?

What is all the talk about?

If tennis and ping pong had a child, it's pickleball.

Think of pickleball as a smaller version of tennis. There's a net. There's a ball. And there's a racquet, (we call it a paddle).

You can play singles or doubles, whatever floats your boat. Players hit the ball over the net. Only the serving team can win points. And, you have to serve underarm, so no big ball tosses.

Okay, let's do a practice. We are playing doubles and serving first. Me and you vs Karen and John.

Quick intermission. If you are liking the sound of pickleball, check out our range of pickleball paddles so you can hit the court.

You serve the ball from behind the baseline cross court into the service box. Nice work, Karen missed the pickleball. "Is there a hole in your paddle Karen?"

So, that is 1 point to us because we can only win points as the serving team.

Okay, next part. Just like tennis, you will now serve into the other box cross court, this time to John.

You serve it into the service box, it bounces once, John hits it back, it bounces on our side of the court and then we hit it back, but John hits it on the full and wins the point.

So, listen up now, because there was a couple pickleball rules in that rally. First one, because we lost that point, it is still 1-0 to us, but now it's my serve (as your partner). Once the first server loses a point, being you, it then goes to your partner to serve.

The other rule was the 2 bounce rule. The ball must bounce twice before anyone hits the ball on the full. So you serve, it bounces once, they hit it back and it bounces once on our side and then they can hit the ball on the full.

Hope you really used the imagination for this one.
